Heitage Lane house in FFC

Julu Road Lane 820 was a residential development built in 1938 by the prominent Shanghai real estate tycoon Zhou Xiang Yun, who set aside a portion of his own south garden for its construction.

Named Jinghua for its elegant garden scenery, the project was designed by the Brandt Rogers Architectural Design Company and belongs to the new-style lane house housing typology with a brick-and-concrete structure. The main façade is divided into individual units by projecting vertical walls, giving the building a distinctive architectural character, while the gabled elevations feature delicate linear decorative details. The entire building has since undergone surface refurbishment and repainting.

The property currently for sale is the former residence of the renowned oil and traditional Chinese painter Zhu Zhan Yan. The four Chinese characters “Jin Hua village” on the entrance archway of Lane 820 were also handwritten by him.
